Something For Everyone...

I love children's books. And if you are visiting this blog, then you probably love them as well. (And if you're a guy, we won't make you admit you like quiche too! That's between you and your conscience.) Why do we like to read children's books? Are they easier to read? Well, certainly, but that isn't the main reason we are drawn to them.

Isaac Bashevis Singer once said: "In our time, when the literature for adults is deteriorating, good books for children are the only hope, the only refuge." And he may have hit the nail on the head. There are far more good children's books being published these days than there are good books for adults. If you are a book reader, I bet you could walk into a bookstore and find 10 children's books that look like an enjoyable read for every adult title on the bookshelf.

Children's books are magical. In some instances, they transport us back to the innocent days of our childhood. But they always tell a solid, enjoyable story. And that's what I invite you here to talk about. Let's talk about books for children. What are your favorites? Who are your favorite children's authors? Are you an author of children's books? (Or perhaps you'd like to be someday.) And, yes, I even invite you to post reviews of your favorite children's books here. It's a wide-open discussion. We'll let the books guide our footsteps...
